How couples counselling can help you

Couples counselling with Marggie can help couples to navigate the ups and downs of their relationship. In your relationship, you need to feel that your partner thinks you are special. You need to feel listened to and understood. To keep a sense of hope that things can work out in a way where neither of you has to sacrifice who you are.

Couples counselling can help you grow in your understanding of your individual story, all the way back to childhood, and how your reactions that are showing up in your present relationship trace back to your past experiences. You will be growing your self-awareness and compassion.

As you learn and practice active listening skills, you will come to better understand your partner’s story, as well as their needs, expectations, and dreams. Over time, everyone’s needs, expectations, and dreams change, so to connect with your partner, you need to update your understanding of where they are now.

Marggie will help you develop your ability to show up for your partner with relational awareness and compassion. Using the relational awareness and relational skills you develop together, she will help you write a new story that fulfills each of you individually and your unique new “Story of Us”.

Couples counselling can change the world

“What can you do to promote world peace? Go home and love your family.”
― Mother Theresa
     1979 Nobel Peace Prize

Since she was a child, Marggie wanted to change the world. Over time, she realized that significant change at a large, international scale begins at home, in the smallest system: the family. To start, she focused her warm heart on loving her family. Then she developed her professional capacity to become a child, family, and couples therapist, to help people give the love they have and share it within their own family, relationship, and community.

Couples counselling can transform what the future looks and feels like, not just for you and your partner’s relationship as a couple. It will change how you show up in the world. If you have children, it will impact your family unit. Beyond that, your love for each other will touch the lives of everyone around you.

Marggie can help you share the boundless love you hold within. Your love will change your world, and the world of those around you.

Are you looking for child or family counselling?

Couples who are parents can feel taxed by the demands of raising kids. In addition to supporting couples through couples counselling, Marggie can also support the family unit and your child or children, as she is on the child counselling team at Kids Reconnect.

Couples Reconnect, a branch of Calgary Reconnect Counselling Group, acknowledges that we are gathered on Treaty 7 territory, the original home of the Blackfoot Confederacy, comprised of the Siksika, Piikani, and Kanai First Nations; the Stoney Nakoda, comprised of the Chiniki, Wesley, and Bearspaw First Nations; and the Tsuut’ina First Nation.  This territory is also home to the Métis Nation of Alberta, Region 3 within the historical Northwest Métis homeland. Located on this traditional territory, our mission is to spark reconnection and healing within couples, kids, parents, and families. We do this work with respect for these First Nations and in a spirit of humility, kindness, inclusion, and diversity.
